The needlefish, also known as Belone belone or Garfish, is a fascinating creature found in various parts of the world. With its sleek and elongated body, it glides effortlessly through the water, captivating both scientists and nature enthusiasts alike. One particular species that stands out is the Clinus Polyactocephalus. Its unique appearance with multiple heads makes it an intriguing subject for study. Similarly, the Gunellus Dolichogaster catches attention with its slender form and graceful movements. Another notable member of this family is the Belone Gigantea. As its name suggests, this giant needlefish commands respect with its impressive size and predatory prowess. In their natural habitat, needlefish coexist with other marine creatures such as gurnard, cowfish, herring, and porcupine fish. This diverse ecosystem creates a mesmerizing underwater spectacle that never fails to amaze divers and snorkelers. One remarkable sighting took place in the Sargasso Sea of the Atlantic Ocean where a Gyre flyingfish called Prognichthys glaphyrae was photographed in all its glory. The vibrant colors of this species against the backdrop of crystal-clear waters create an enchanting scene that showcases nature's artistry. Indonesia's Raja Ampat region offers another breathtaking sight as needlefish gracefully feed near the surface above a vibrant reef. Credit goes to those who capture these moments on camera for allowing us to witness such beauty firsthand. Not limited to just underwater encounters they can also be spotted on land. An image captured by Albert Flamen depicts a Black skimmer named Rynchops niger donning its breeding plumage - an exquisite display of nature's elegance. Historical records reveal that even during ancient times like Lodewijk XIV's reign; people were fascinated by these creatures' presence on beaches. Jacques van Merlen immortalized this fascination through his artwork featuring Needlefish, Belonidae on the beach.
