Nome, Alaska: A Camp North of the Arctic Circle, 1900-1930. Unknown Creator. Horses pulled U.S. Mail sleds through snowy terrain, as miners worked the beach for gold. Reindeer herds were corralled for survival, while children played in log cabins. The Log Cabin Club and salmon works thrived, providing community and sustenance. Hydraulic power mining and Eagle Hall offered new opportunities, while the Pioneer Mine and group of homes stood as symbols of perseverance. Amidst it all, the spirit of Nome's pioneers endured.
