Norada: A Timeless Beauty on the Open Seas Step back in time to 1911, where the magnificent 19-metre cutter Norada graced the waters with her majestic presence. Crafted by Kirk & Sons of Cowes, this sailing vessel was a true work of art and engineering brilliance. Whether sailing close-hauled or riding the winds in a following breeze, Norada effortlessly glided through the waves, showcasing her remarkable capabilities. With every sail taut and every line perfectly trimmed, she epitomized grace and elegance on the open seas. In 1913, Norada found herself engaged in thrilling races alongside her fellow 19-metre class companion Mariquita. The two vessels battled it out as they raced close-hauled against each other, their sleek hulls slicing through the water with precision and speed. But Norada's competitive spirit did not end there. She also joined forces with Wendula and Mariquita for exhilarating regattas that pushed their limits to new heights. Close-hauled once again, these breathtaking races were a testament to both skillful navigation and sheer determination. As she sailed under clear skies at Cowes in 1911, Norada proudly showcased her beauty alongside Octavia, Corona, and Mariquita - all part of an awe-inspiring fleet that left spectators mesmerized by their synchronized movements on the water. With Portsmouth Harbour as witness to her grand launching on June 17th that same year, Norada embarked on a journey destined for greatness. Her maiden voyage marked only the beginning of countless adventures yet to come. No matter what conditions Mother Nature presented - be it gentle breezes or fierce gales - Norada proved herself capable of conquering any challenge thrown her way. Her resilience knew no bounds as she fearlessly sailed close-reaching amidst unpredictable elements. The start line was always met with anticipation and excitement for Norada; she thrived in the thrill of competition.
