"Pads: A Journey Through Sports and Legends" Step back in time to the 1970s, where skateboarding was all the rage. The skateboarder effortlessly glides through the streets, his pads protecting him from any potential falls. In the world of cricket, one name stands out - W G Grace. Known for his iconic beard and skill on the field, he dons his pads as he steps up to bat, ready to face any challenge that comes his way. The Olympics of 1932 witnessed a thrilling hockey match. Players clad in their protective gear, including sturdy pads, battled it out on the field for glory and victory. On a peaceful riverbank scene, we see nature's own version - lily pads floating gracefully on the water's surface. They provide shelter for tiny creatures like houseflies who use their feet with precision just like legendary cricketer W G Grace did with a bat. Joining Northamptonshire CCC Cricket Team is J H King - a true cricketing hero. As he takes guard at the crease wearing his trusty pads, spectators hold their breath in anticipation of another remarkable innings. Middlebrough Cricket Club showcases its talent on sunny afternoons. With players adorned in crisp white uniforms and padded up for protection against fast-paced deliveries, they embody dedication and passion for this beloved sport. Dorothy Dickson graces the sketch cover by Angus McBean with elegance and poise. Her presence reminds us that even performers need protection too; just as she wears her theatrical "pads" to enhance her performance onstage. Let's not forget Lily and Hilda Hanbury - two sisters who dominated women's cricket during their era. Their unwavering determination led them to wear those essential pads while batting fearlessly against opponents twice their size. They have become an integral part of sports history – from skateboarding pioneers in the '70s to legendary cricketers like W G Grace and J H King.
