Chinnappa, a 21-year-old Paraiyar man from Travancore, India, ponders his future amidst the Victorian era's rigid societal norms, as depicted in the lithograph "Which Way Shall I Turn Me, How Shall I Decide?" published by S.W. Fores in 1827-35. In contrast, a Paraiyar girl enjoys the simple pleasures of life in an engraving titled "The Pariahs garden at sunrise." The Paraiyar community, traditionally considered outcastes in India, are also represented in a lithograph of a Paraiyar cook from the same era. Fast forward to the American West, a Pariah Dog, a breed originating from India, lies peacefully beside a domestic dog and people washing in the river near Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The Paraiyar's resilience and adaptability are further highlighted in an image of a Christian convert from the community, while the rugged beauty of Buckskin Gulch Canyon in Arizona serves as a reminder of the diverse landscapes that have shaped the Paraiyar people's history.
