Phil Armes is a legendary motorcycle racer who has left his mark on the Manx Grand Prix and TT races. In 1984, alongside Gary Cowan and Eddie Byers, he made his debut in the Newcomers Manx Grand Prix, showcasing his talent and determination. Throughout his career, Armes rode various bikes including Triumph, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki. In 2016, he participated in the Manx Grand Prix Parade Lap astride a Triumph bike - a true testament to his enduring passion for racing. One of Armes' notable achievements came in 1988 when he competed in the Formula One TT race with Craig Ryding on their powerful Suzukis. The duo displayed exceptional teamwork and skill as they tackled the challenging course. Armes also excelled in different categories such as Production C TT with Honda in 1988 and Formula Two TT with Yamaha in 1986. His versatility was evident as he conquered multiple disciplines within motorcycle racing. In 1991's Supersport 400 TT race, Armes showcased his prowess on a Suzuki bike once again. He fearlessly pushed boundaries to achieve remarkable results that solidified his reputation as an outstanding racer. Collaborating with Pete Beale on a Kawasaki and Yamaha respectively during the Production A TT race of 1988 further demonstrated Armes' ability to adapt to different machines while maintaining consistent performance levels. The Ultra Lightweight TT event of 1992 saw Armes riding a Honda bike with finesse and precision. His dedication to honing his skills throughout the years paid off as he consistently delivered impressive performances. Phil Armes will forever be remembered for leaving an indelible mark on motorcycle racing history through countless thrilling moments at prestigious events like the Manx Grand Prix and Isle of Man TT races.
