"Raised: A Symbolic Gesture of Power, Unity, and Resilience" In a defining moment during the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, American runners Tommie Smith and John Carlos boldly raised their fists in a Black Power salute during the medal ceremonies. Their powerful gesture aimed to shed light on racial inequality and oppression faced by African Americans at that time. Standing beside them was Australian Peter Norman, who wore an OPHR badge as a sign of solidarity. From the bustling streets of Manila, Philippines, to ancient Rome's grandeur embodied by Boadicea (Boudica), we find instances where individuals have raised their voices against injustice throughout history. The Nipa Houses near Manila serve as a reminder of resilience in the face of adversity. The statue of St Peter at Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano stands tall as a testament to faith and devotion. It symbolizes how raising one's spirit can bring solace even amidst challenging times. During World War II, RAF posters urged citizens with the slogan "Back Them Up. " These powerful images encouraged people to raise their support for those fighting for freedom and peace. Captured forever in Picture No. 11768923 is an encounter between Robert Bruce and Sir Henry de Bohun—an event where courage rose above fear on the battlefield. The poster design from Chicago Worlds Fair 1933 showcases innovation elevated through artistry—a celebration of human achievement despite economic hardships during that era. Kay Snap captures Mr Bobby the Policeman raising smiles among children—a heartwarming reminder that small acts can elevate spirits within communities. Overlooking Lucknow Residency stands proudly the Union Flag—raised high above British India—an emblematic display representing power dynamics during colonial rule. Innovation meets necessity with flood barriers in Netherlands—raising defenses against nature's might while safeguarding lives and homes from potential devastation caused by rising waters.
