Striding Edge, a breathtaking ridge in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England. This iconic landmark offers adventurous hikers an adrenaline-filled experience as they traverse its narrow path atop Helvellyn. The rugged beauty of this region is unmatched, with the picturesque Ullswater and its little island captivating visitors even in November. As we explore different parts of the world, we come across various ridges that leave us spellbound. In Scotland's Scottish Highlands, daredevils take on the Aonach Eagach Ridge above Glencoe - a thrilling challenge amidst stunning landscapes. Meanwhile, Goat Fell Range in Brecon Beacons showcases nature's grandeur at its finest. Reflecting upon history, we remember significant events like The Canadians at Ypres during World War I depicted by William Barnes Wollen or scenes from The Zulu war where the Battle of Isandula took place. Across the pond in America's vast wilderness lie equally mesmerizing ridges. Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming boasts majestic peaks mirrored flawlessly by Snake River while Maroon Bells reflects their splendor on Maroon Lake within Colorado's Rocky Mountains. Closer to home for me lies Kentucky's Red River Gorge within Daniel Boone National Forest; here fog dances gracefully at sunrise creating an ethereal atmosphere that envelops everything around it. And who can forget Clouds Over Glencoe Village? Three Sisters stand tall amidst swirling clouds painting a picture straight out of dreams. Whether it be Earth's topographic and bathymetric map or these real-life wonders scattered across continents, ridges continue to captivate our imagination and remind us of nature's awe-inspiring power wherever we may roam.
