"Rocinante: The Steed of Spanish Literature" Rocinante, the iconic steed from the renowned Spanish literature masterpiece "Don Quixote, " holds a special place in literary history. Written by Miguel de Cervantes, this timeless tale follows the adventures of the ingenious hidalgo Don Quixote and his loyal companion Sancho Panza. One memorable scene depicts Don Quixote valiantly fighting a herd of sheep, mistaking them for ferocious giants. This comical encounter showcases Rocinante's unwavering loyalty to his master, even in the face of absurdity. In Alonso Fernandez de Avellaneda's sequel to Cervantes' work, Rocinante continues to play a significant role. As depicted in an engraving, he fearlessly charges at Yanguesians who dared challenge him and his knightly rider. Another captivating moment shows Don Quixote encountering a figure dressed in a gown. In this colorful lithograph, Rocinante stands proudly beside his master as they embark on yet another adventure filled with chivalry and imagination. The gallant steed is also portrayed running his lance into a sail with determination and bravery. This vibrant lithograph captures Rocinante's spirit as he aids Don Quixote in their quest for justice and honor. Throughout their journey, both knight and horse find solace when they finally catch sight of their village. Another engraving portrays Rocinante stumbling over obstacles during an intense battle against the Knight of Mirrors. In one particularly intriguing color lithograph, we witness another character known as the Knight of the White Moon engaging with our heroes.
