"Rokkasen: The Elegance of Japanese Poetry and Art" Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Rokkasen, a collection of exquisite artwork and poetry that captures the essence of Japan's rich cultural heritage. Created by Suzuki Harunobu in the 18th century, these masterpieces transport us to a time when beauty was revered and celebrated. In Parrot Komachi (Omu Komachi), we witness the graceful figure of Ono no Komachi adorned in vibrant robes, her elegance rivaling that of a parrot's colorful plumage. This portrayal from The Seven Fashionable Aspects of Komachi series showcases both her physical allure and poetic prowess. Ono no Komachi at Seki Temple takes us on a spiritual journey as she stands before an ancient shrine. Harunobu skillfully captures her contemplative expression, inviting us to delve into the depths of her thoughts and emotions. By the Waterfall (Shimizu) reveals another facet of Ono no Komachi's character. Here, she is depicted near a cascading waterfall, symbolizing both her inner strength and vulnerability, and is through such juxtapositions that Harunobu brings these legendary poets to life. Praying for Rain (Amagoi) portrays Ono no Komachi immersed in prayer during times of drought. Her devotion shines through as she beseeches the heavens for relief, reminding us not only of her poetic talent but also her compassion towards others. The Six Immortal Poets series introduces us to other renowned figures from Japanese literature. Sojo Henjo emerges with his dignified presence while Kisen Hoshi captivates with his enigmatic aura. Bunya no Yasuhide exudes wisdom beyond his years while Otomo no Kuronushi enchants with his lyrical verses. Amongst them all stands Ono no Komachi herself – radiant yet melancholic, her poetic brilliance illuminating the world around her.
