Saint Joachim, the father of the Virgin Mary, is a prominent figure in various artistic depictions throughout history. In "The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, " painted between 1502-1505, we witness an important event in Mary's life as she is presented at the temple. This momentous occasion is also portrayed in other works such as "Presentation of Jesus at the Temple" from 1342 and "Presentation of the Virgin in the temple" circa 1380. Another notable artwork featuring Saint Joachim is "Holy family with St Joachim and Anne. " Here, he stands alongside his wife Anne and their daughter Mary, creating a sacred familial bond. The painting titled "The Holy Parent" showcases Saint Anne surrounded by her three successive husbands: Salome, Cleophas (father of Marie Cleophas), and Joachim himself. "The Meeting of Joachim and Anne at the Golden Gate" captures their reunion with delicate brushwork on paper. Their joyous encounter symbolizes hope and faithfulness. Additionally, there are artworks like "The Birth of the Virgin, " painted around 1430 by Master of Konstanz, which depicts this miraculous event with vibrant colors on wood. Sebastiano Conca's oil painting titled "La presentation de la bienheureuse Vierge Marie" portrays another rendition of Mary's presentation at the temple. This masterpiece can be found at State A Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. Furthermore, Giuliano Traballesi's work from 1760-1800 shows Saint Anne kneeling while holding baby Mary tenderly—a touching portrayal that emphasizes maternal love within this holy family. Lastly, detached frescoes depict significant moments from Joachim and Anna's lives including their annunciation—an integral part known as "Life of Joachim and Anne: The Annunciation to Joachim and Anna. " These diverse artworks spanning centuries pay tribute to Saint Joachim, capturing his role as a devoted father and husband.
