"Sauceboat: A Journey through Time and Style in Tableware" Step into the world of exquisite tableware as we explore the fascinating history of sauceboats. These elegant vessels, often accompanied by stands, have graced dining tables for centuries, adding a touch of sophistication to every meal. Our journey begins in Paris between 1794 and 1797 with Martin-Guillaume Biennais' Sauceboat and Stand. Crafted during the tumultuous times of the French Revolution, this piece reflects both resilience and beauty. Moving forward to the early 19th century, we encounter Thomas Fletcher's Pair of Sauceboats from around 1830. The intricate designs on these sauceboats showcase the craftsmanship that was highly valued during this period. Jacob Hurd's Sauce Boat from around 1745 takes us even further back in time. This masterpiece exemplifies the elegance and refinement associated with Georgian silverware. Fast-forwarding to mid-19th century America, Eoff & Shepard present their Pair of Sauceboats crafted between 1852 and 1861. These pieces embody American ingenuity while maintaining a timeless appeal. Edward Lownes' Sauce Boat from approximately 1817 to 1833 demonstrates his mastery in creating functional yet aesthetically pleasing tableware that would enhance any dining experience. The "Washington Memorial Service" brings forth two sauceboats along with two covered tureens. As symbols of remembrance, these pieces pay tribute to an influential figure who shaped American history. Royal Worcester presents their Two-Handled Sauceboat dating back to Worcester circa 1755. With its delicate porcelain workmanship, it represents a pinnacle achievement in English ceramics production. Staffordshire Potteries also leave their mark on our exploration with several notable creations such as Staffordshire's c. 1760 Sauceboat or Staffordshire's c. 1750/59 variation - each showcasing unique characteristics that define this renowned pottery region.
