Sawamura Sojuro, a renowned actor of the late 18th century, left an indelible mark on the world of Kabuki theater. Known for his versatile performances and captivating stage presence, Sawamura Sojuro II portrayed Satsuma Gengobei with great intensity alongside Arashi Ryuzo II as Mawashi-otoko in 1795. The following year, he mesmerized audiences as Oboshi Yuranosuke in "Edo no Hana Ako no Shiogam, " showcasing his exceptional acting skills. In 1797, Sawamura Sojuro III took on the role of Muchizo in "Miyamairi Musubu. " His portrayal of the packhorse-man was both compelling and nuanced. Collaborating with other talented actors like Segawa Kikunojo III and Osagawa Tsuneyo II, Sawamura brought to life characters such as Soga no Juro and Oiso no Tora in various plays during this period.
