"Schell: Capturing Moments in History and Art" From capturing the essence of renowned poet Rupert Brooke to documenting the bravery of the Tuskegee Airmen, Sherril Schell's photography has left an indelible mark on history. In 1913, his lens immortalized Brooke, revealing a glimpse into the soul of this English wordsmith. The Tuskegee Airmen, members of the 332nd Fighter Group, were captured by Toni Frissell's camera during a briefing at Ramitelli Airfield in Italy. Gentry Barnes, Samuel Watts, Wendell Lucas stood proudly in the first row while Harold Morris, John Porter, Joseph Chineworth adorned the second row. The third row featured an unidentified hero alongside Wyrain Schell. Traveling across continents to Parramatta and Fremantle in Australia during 1886 allowed artists like Albert Henry Fullwood and Julian Ashton to capture stunning landscapes that would forever be etched in time. Rupert Chawner Brooke's photograph resurfaced once again through Sherril Schell's lens; his piercing gaze reflecting both vulnerability and strength. This image serves as a testament to Brooke's contribution to literature before his untimely death. JR Ashton skillfully depicted Middle Head's powerful 25-ton gun stationed in Sydney during 1886 - a symbol of defense against potential threats that loomed over Australia at that time. A delicate still life with mimosa showcases nature's beauty frozen within Julian Ashton’s artwork. Its vibrant colors evoke feelings of joy and tranquility for all who behold it. James H. Richardson transported us back to 1872 with "On the Beach, " where crashing waves meet sandy shores under an endless sky – a serene moment captured forevermore. Frank P Mahony took us on an adventurous cattle run through Australia in 1886 as cowboys rounded up stragglers amidst vast open plains, embodying the spirit of determination and resilience.
