The schnellbomber, a term used to describe fast bombers in World War II, included iconic aircraft such as the Junkers Ju-88R, Junkers Ju-88A-1, and Junkers Ju-88G-1. These planes were known for their speed and versatility in carrying out bombing missions. Another notable schnellbomber was the Dornier Do-17Z-2, which played a significant role during the war. The Junkers Ju-88 series comprised various models like the Ju-88B-1 and Ju-88A-4. These aircraft were highly regarded for their exceptional performance and ability to deliver devastating blows to enemy targets with precision. Equipped with powerful engines and advanced weaponry systems, they became feared by both ground forces and aerial opponents. On the other hand, the Dornier Do 17 series featured models like Do 17P-1, Do 17P–2, Do 17E, and even experimental versions like the Dornier Do 17V–1. Despite being slightly slower than some of its counterparts in terms of top speed or payload capacity, these planes made up for it with their agility and maneuverability. Both manufacturers contributed significantly to Germany's air force during WWII by producing reliable schnellbombers that could strike swiftly at strategic targets across Europe. The schnellbomber concept revolutionized aerial warfare tactics by emphasizing speed over heavy armor or defensive capabilities.
