In North Korea's capital city, Pyongyang, we find a painting showcasing the Great Leaders Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung. This artwork represents their vision in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), highlighting their role as guiding figures in shaping society according to socialist principles. Moving back in time to the Soviet Union during the 1970s, we encounter Boris Parmeev's propaganda poster titled "Under the Sun of The Motherland We Strengthen. " This piece captures the spirit of collective effort under socialism, emphasizing national unity and progress towards common goals. Taking another step into history brings us to Rochdale, Lancashire in 1844 when Co-operative shops emerged as pioneers in implementing socialist ideals. The first Co-operative shop opened there, marking an important milestone on the path towards economic equality and fair distribution. Semyon Chuikov's painting "Daughter of Soviet Kirghizia" showcases socialist realism—a genre prevalent during Stalinist times—depicting ordinary people engaged in everyday activities with pride and purpose. Such art aimed to inspire citizens by portraying an idealized version of life under socialism. France has also played a significant role in promoting socialism through iconic posters like "The Future Lies In Socialism. " These visuals captured public attention while advocating for social justice reforms within French society. Rosa Luxemburg emerges as one prominent figure among many Marxist activists who passionately fought for workers' rights and social change in Germany. Her legacy continues to inspire those seeking alternatives to capitalist systems worldwide.
