Here, locals and visitors alike engage in lively bartering for fresh produce and local delicacies, showcasing the essence of Mediterranean trade. Moving forward to London's bustling Stock Exchange - The Stock Jobbers Pitches - where fortunes are made or lost with every transaction. This iconic financial hub has been at the forefront of global commerce for centuries. Transporting ourselves across continents once again, we land in Hong Kong during the 1890s. Amidst its crowded streets filled with merchants and traders from all walks of life, one can sense the city's thriving economic spirit that still persists today. In Chicago Board of Trade, we witness a different kind of exchange – commodities trading. Here futures contracts are bought and sold daily; an essential pillar supporting agricultural economies worldwide. Stepping away from markets momentarily, let us introduce Sir John Brockett – an influential figure who played a pivotal role in shaping Britain's trade policies during his tenure as Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Our journey now leads us to Jingdezhen city in China where ancient pottery factories proudly display their exquisite vases dating back to Qing and Ming dynasties. Shifting our focus towards currency itself brings us face-to-face with Euro banknotes – a testament to Europe's unified economy built upon seamless cross-border transactions fostering prosperity among member nations. Lebanon’s Sidon beckons next; a city steeped in history and renowned for its vibrant souks.
