Our first stop takes us back to 5 November 1981, where the iconic Class 55 DELTIC locomotive roared across the tracks at York, leaving an indelible mark on railway enthusiasts. Rewinding further, we find ourselves amidst the hustle and bustle of Liverpool Street station in Great Eastern Railway's heyday on 1 June 1920. The air is thick with anticipation as passengers eagerly await their next adventure. Transporting ourselves to London Victoria station in the glamorous 1930s, we witness Southern Railway's elegant trains gliding gracefully into their platforms. This era exudes sophistication and style that still captivates imaginations today. Venturing even deeper into history, we arrive at London Paddington station in 1840 when Great Western Railway revolutionized travel with its inaugural steam-powered service. A momentous occasion that paved the way for future innovations. York station beckons us next; it was here in August 1906 that North Eastern Railway showcased its grandeur and architectural splendor. Passengers marveled at this magnificent gateway to new horizons. Holgate Bridge in York becomes our backdrop as we fast forward to London and North Eastern Railway's triumphs in 1937. The bridge stands tall as a testament to engineering prowess while witnessing countless journeys unfold beneath its arches. No exploration would be complete without visiting Kings Cross station – a symbol of British rail travel excellence throughout different eras. From Great Northern Railway's reign to British Railways' transformative years around c1949-1950, this hub has witnessed it all. Our final destination brings us back full circle to York station once more but now set against the backdrop of bustling activity from another era -1953.
