Step into the fascinating world of a wigmaker, where history and art intertwine. From the King of Brobdingnag and Gulliver to Marie-Antoinette with a Rose, this profession has left its mark on various masterpieces throughout time. In 1803, an enchanting hand-coloured engraving depicted The King of Brobdingnag and Gulliver, showcasing the intricate wigs that were meticulously crafted by skilled wigmakers. Fast forward to 1906, when a chromolithograph captured the elegance of Marie-Antoinette with a Rose. Her elaborate hairstyle was undoubtedly created by the hands of a talented wigmaker who understood how to enhance her beauty through their artistry. The legacy continues as we delve into another portrait from centuries ago - Queen Marie Antoinette herself. This print immortalizes her regal presence, complete with an exquisite wig that adds grandeur to her appearance. Immanuel Kant's miniature painting reveals not only his philosophical brilliance but also his impeccable taste in hairstyles. A wigmaker surely played a role in ensuring he looked distinguished while pondering life's deepest questions. Moliere Reading Tartuffe at the home of Ninon de Lenclos transports us back to 1802 when this oil on canvas masterpiece was created. Amongst those gathered is likely a wigmaker who contributed to each character's unique look, adding depth and authenticity to Moliere's iconic play. John Joseph Merlin comes alive in an oil on canvas portrait from 1781. His powdered wig showcases both fashion trends and craftsmanship prevalent during that era – testament to the skillful hands behind it all: the wigmakers. William Jones' captivating gaze captivates viewers in his 1740 oil on canvas portrait. Behind him lies yet another stunning creation - his intricately styled wig which further enhances his allure.
