"Exploring the Riches of the XIV Century: A Glimpse into Medieval England" Step back in time to the captivating XIV century, as we delve into a world filled with grandeur and historical significance. This era witnessed remarkable events and personalities that shaped the course of English history. One fascinating aspect is the reconstruction of a wall painting originally found in St. Stephen's Chapel. The bottom row depicts influential figures such as Thomas Woodstock, Edmund Langley, John of Gaunt, Lionel, Edward - famously known as The Black Prince - and even St. George himself. These individuals played pivotal roles during this period. Another striking portrayal from this time is an exquisite portrait capturing the elegance and grace of Queen Isabelle of France, also known as Isabella of France. As Queen consort to King Edward I, she left an indelible mark on medieval England. The artistic beauty continues with "Gloria in excelsis Deo, " a mesmerizing chromolithograph that showcases religious devotion through vibrant colors and intricate details. Moving beyond portraits, we encounter Otto IV, Margrave of Brandenburg alongside his wife Hedwig of Holstein in a stunning color lithograph. Their regal presence exemplifies nobility during this epoch. A true masterpiece awaits us with the Apocalypse Tapestry or Apocalypse of Angers dating back to 1375-80. This tapestry unravels biblical narratives intricately woven together to create a visual spectacle that captivates all who behold it. Literature enthusiasts will be delighted by Geoffrey Chaucer at the court of King Edward III depicted in a vivid color lithograph. Chaucer's literary contributions have immortalized him as one of England's greatest poets. We then journey to St Mary's Church in Worstead where parclose screens and rood screens transport us into sacred spaces adorned with intricate designs that reflect religious devotion prevalent during this era.
