"The Yeoman Warder: Guardians of History and Tradition" Step back in time to the Stone Kitchen, 1840, as depicted by the talented artist George Cruikshank. Amidst the bustling Tower of London, a Yeoman Warder stands tall, embodying centuries of history and tradition. In 1849, Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort graced the Royal Italian Opera with their presence. Amongst the opulent setting, a mysterious figure caught their attention - a Yeoman Warder silently observing from afar. Princess Alexandra herself witnessed the grandeur of King Edward VII's First Parliament opening in 1901. As she gazed upon this historic event, her eyes were drawn to a Beefeater standing proudly at attention. The Tower of London has always been synonymous with its iconic Beefeaters. Dressed in their striking state attire, they stand guard over England's rich heritage within those ancient walls. As we delve into history through The Graphic's front cover from October 13th, 1888; an unknown creator captures a moment frozen in time - a Yeoman Warder patrolling his post amidst whispers of intrigue and mystery. A black-and-white photograph transports us further back to witness another era unfold before our eyes. The stoic presence of a Beefeater at The Tower Of London reminds us that these guardians have stood strong for generations. King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra embarked on their coronation journey in Westminster Abbey during 1902. Yet it was on their return journey where they encountered one more symbol of British pride - a Yeoman Warder escorting them home in regal splendor. Traveling even further back to St. Georges Hall in 1844 brings us face-to-face with The Grand Buffet – an extravagant feast fit for royalty guarded by vigilant yeomen warders who ensure order prevails amidst indulgence. Within St James's Palace Guard-Room lies a glimpse into the daily lives of these dedicated guardians.
