EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Entrance to a Farmyard, mid 18th century" by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo takes us back in time to the rural landscapes of the past. The image showcases a small holding with its humble entrance, depicted with intricate pen strokes and delicate washes on white paper. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, an esteemed Italian Venetian painter and printmaker of the 18th century, was renowned for his grand frescoes adorning churches and palaces across Italy, Germany, and Spain. This particular artwork offers a glimpse into his lesser-known talent for etchings and oil paintings. The print is believed to have once belonged to Henry Oppenheimer's collection in London.
