Frederick Goodall, painter, 1878. Goodall was only 14 years old when he exhibited water-colour paintings of Willesden Church and Lambeth Palace at the Society of Arts, the latter picture was awarded the Isis medal of the society. Among his best-known works are, The Tired Soldier, The Village Holiday and The Ploughman and the Shepherdess. From Men of Mark: a gallery of contemporary portraits of men distinguished in the Senate, the Church, in science, literature and art, the army, navy, law, medicine, etc. Photographed from life by Lock and Whitfield, with brief biographical notices by Thompson Cooper.
