The gods granted his wish, but later, when Iphis' true gender was revealed, Ianthe was horrified and rejected him. Desperate and heartbroken, Iphis begged the gods to change him back into a man. Once again, they granted his wish, but this time, Iphis was transformed back into a man with a woman's memory, allowing him to understand the depth of Ianthe's feelings and ultimately win her love. This print, with its intricate details and nuanced shading, showcases Iphis in a moment of deep contemplation, holding a spear and dressed in military attire, perhaps reflecting on his past or contemplating his future.
