Katherine DeMille, Canadian born American actress, 1934-1935. Born Katherine Lester, she was adopted by the Hollywood film director Cecil B DeMille and his wife after her father was killed in World War I and her mother died from tuberculosis. Tragedy struck her life again when her 3 year old son drowned in WC Fields swimming pool. She appeared in about 30 films in the 1930s and 1940s. Taken from Meet the Film Stars, by Seton Margrave.
