EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a fascinating artifact from the American Legion in 1927. The noisemaker, created by an unknown artist, consists of two distinct pieces that come together to create a unique and visually striking object. The first piece is a rubber bulb with a metal tip, measuring 8 inches long. Its surface features intricate details such as horizontal seam lines around its center and three concentric circular seam lines at the top. Connected to this bulb is a scrunched gold-colored metal cap that leads to a hollow metal cylinder at the bottom. The second piece is a metal horn with grooved lines both at its end and in the center. Adorned on one side of the horn is an exquisite pictorial bas-relief depicting an impressive building with two towers. Above this image are inscriptions that read "AMERICAN LEGION / SEPTEMBER" while below it states "1927 / PARIS". On either side of the trumpet, facing opposite directions, there are additional inscriptions: "" LE JAZZ / H [image of anchor] N" and "H. CARAMELL / 21 R DU PT WILSON / LEVALLOIS". Adding further elegance to this remarkable artifact is a decorative ridge pattern lining the center of the horn above these inscriptions. This print not only captures the beauty and craftsmanship of this intriguing noisemaker but also serves as a testament to American Legion's historical significance during their eventful visit to Paris in September 1927.
