EDITORS COMMENTS

The image, captured by an unknown artist, showcases three captivating outfits that epitomize the elegance and sophistication of the era. First, we have the Morning Toilet, featuring a double-skirted taffeta dress. The under skirt is plain, while the upper one boasts rounded corners and a fluted edging that graduates upwards to the waist. A yellow silk tassel descends from each shoulder ornament, adding a touch of whimsy. A carved mother-of-pearl fan completes the ensemble, and the head-dress is a round garland of roses.
