St. Giles's Church, Dallington, Sussex, 1864. Creator: Unknown
St. Giles's Church, Dallington, Sussex, 1864. Church rebuilt from designs by Edward Habershon. It consists of nave, north aisle, and chancel; the tower and spire, which are of the Tudor period, being left standing. The old church had fallen into a ruinous condition, and, from the slender resources of the inhabitants of the parish, it was most unlikely that they would be able, without extraneous help, to repair the neglect of past generations. Such help was, however, procured by the exertions of the Vicar, the Rev. R. R. Tatham, and at the cost of friends who knew the extreme necessity of the case. It is probable that a church has existed on this spot since the Norman conquest...The church which now stands on this beautiful spot is a very substantial and pretty structure'.
