This print showcases the awe-inspiring statues of Rameses II, standing guard outside the entrance to the main temple at Abu Simbel in Egypt. Dating back to the 13th Century BC, these sandstone colossi are a testament to the grandeur and power of one of ancient Egypt's most renowned pharaohs. Built during Rameses II's reign, which spanned from 1279-1212 BC, this magnificent temple was dedicated to the sun gods Amon-Re and Re-Horakhte. The sheer size and imposing presence of these statues reflect Rameses' commitment to temple building during his rule.
