EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning 18th century oil painting depicts Ulrika Eleonora, Queen of Sweden, in the year 1702. The portrait was created by the renowned German painter David von Krafft, who expertly captured the regal presence and haughty pride of the Queen. Ulrika Eleonora, born in the Palatinate Zweibrucken, was a member of the House of Wittelsbach, and at the age of 14, she was married to the future King Charles XII of Sweden. In this portrait, the Queen is shown wearing an elegant red dress adorned with intricate gold and ermine trim, a sign of her royal status and heritage. The direct gaze of Ulrika Eleonora, with her proud and confident expression, adds to the powerful and commanding presence of the painting. The textured fabric and rich colors of the dress, as well as the meticulous attention to detail in the ermine fur, add to the overall grandeur and opulence of the artwork. This painting is now a cherished part of the collection at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Sweden, and is a testament to the fascinating history of the Swedish monarchy and the legacy of Ulrika Eleonora as Queen.
