EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the vibrant atmosphere of Kingston market in Greater London. The Market Place in Kingston-upon-Thames comes alive with bustling market stalls, showcasing an array of goods and produce. In the foreground, we see the historic Market House, a charming backdrop to this lively scene. Standing proudly at 15-16 Market Place is Boots the Chemist, a landmark establishment that has graced this street since 1909. Designed by Michael Vyne Treleaven in Jacobean Revival style, it exudes timeless elegance. Adorned with statues on its facade and featuring stunning stained glass windows, this building pays homage to the crowning of Saxon kings in Kingston's rich history. The photograph beautifully encapsulates both tradition and modernity as shoppers peruse through a variety of offerings against the backdrop of these architectural gems. It serves as a testament to Kingston's enduring status as a thriving market town where trade and commerce have thrived for centuries. Nicholas Anthony John Philpot skillfully captures not only the physical elements but also the spirit and energy that permeate through every corner of this historic town. This image invites viewers to immerse themselves in its charm while appreciating its significance within British heritage.
