Taken by Katherine MacFee on July 18th, 21st, or 23rd of that year, this image shows The Mall in Westminster filled with pedestrians strolling past temporary pylons adorned with tributes to the battles, sieges, and liberations of World War I. As part of the celebrations for Peace Day and the Victory March on July 19th, these commemorative monuments were erected along The Mall to honor the end of the Great War. The atmosphere is one of joy and relief as people from all walks of life come together to mark this momentous occasion. The photograph offers a glimpse into a pivotal moment in British history, when nations came together to celebrate peace after four years of devastating conflict. It serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by those who fought for their country and highlights the importance of remembering our collective past.
