EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this photo print, we witness a momentous occasion as Lewis Moss, Chairman of Berkshire County Council, extends a warm greeting to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during the official opening of the magnificent Shire Hall. Located at Shinfield Park in Wokingham, Berkshire, this iconic building served as the headquarters for Berkshire County Council. The construction of this grand structure began in 1976 under the supervision of Laings South London Region and was completed in 1980. The long-awaited official opening took place in April 1982 with great pomp and splendor. The event was graced by the presence of not only Her Majesty but also Prince Philip. As captured by camera crews and film crews alike, one cannot help but be mesmerized by the scene outside Shire Hall. A jubilant crowd comprising 5000 local schoolchildren lined the streets to catch a glimpse of royalty and partake in this historic celebration. This photograph immortalizes an extraordinary moment that symbolizes both progress and tradition. It showcases how local government institutions like Berkshire County Council play a vital role in shaping communities while honoring age-old customs through royal ceremonies.
