WALMER CASTLE, Kent. Coloured engraving of the Right Honourable William Pitt the Younger (1759-1806) in military garb on horseback with Walmer Castle (or an equivalent fortification) in the background. Pitt retained the post of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports between 1792 and his death in 1806. From 1708 Walmer Castle has been the official residence of the Warden.
