Tales of balloon flight. Intrepid balloonists Cecil Shadbolt (left) and Captain William Dale (right) posed in the basket of a gas balloon. Tales of Balloon Flight: A Moment of Brave Anticipation before Tragedy This photograph, CVS01_01_023 from the Cecil Victor Shadbolt collection of lantern slides, dates back to the late Victorian era and transports us to an age of intrepid exploration and daring aviation pioneers.
