EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the late 19th century, capturing a moment in time at the prestigious Burnham And Berrow Golf Course in Somerset. Opened in 1891 by Burnham Golf Club, this course was initially just nine holes but later expanded in 1896 when the club changed its name to Burnham and Berrow Golf Club. In this snapshot from June 1898, we see a group of Victorian golfers eagerly preparing to tee off outside the elegant pavilion. Dressed impeccably in their traditional golf attire, they exude an air of sophistication and leisurely enjoyment. The beautifully manicured greens stretch out before them, inviting them into a game that has captivated enthusiasts for generations. The image not only showcases the sport of golf but also offers a glimpse into Victorian society's recreational pursuits.
