EDITORS COMMENTS

This print captures a significant moment in the construction of the M6 Motorway, specifically Junction 14, located in Creswell, Staffordshire. The image showcases a southward view from the west side of the Stafford North junction (Junction 14) on Section A of this iconic motorway. The Birmingham to Preston Motorway project commenced in June 1960 and was skillfully executed by John Laing Construction Ltd. , who played a crucial role in its development. This particular section, known as Section A, spanned an impressive length of 5 and a quarter miles between Dunston and Whitgreave. Transport enthusiasts will appreciate this snapshot from the past as it unveils the early stages of one of England's most vital road networks. The photograph exudes nostalgia with its vintage aesthetic, transporting viewers back to the bustling construction sites of the 1960s. As we gaze upon this historical artifact preserved by Historic England Archive, we are reminded not only of our nation's commitment to improving travel infrastructure but also how far we have come since then. Let us cherish these glimpses into our past that remind us how progress has shaped our present-day transportation systems while acknowledging those who dedicated their expertise and hard work to make it all possible.
