The image showcases a dedicated team of staff working diligently in the control room, surrounded by advanced technology and computers that were cutting-edge for the 1980s. During this era, Laing Construction undertook an expansion project at the factory, adding three sugar silos to enhance production capabilities. This photograph is part of a series documenting the remarkable work carried out by John Laing Design Associates, who were renowned for their expertise in designing sugar silos across various British Sugar Corporation sites. The composition exudes an atmosphere of focus and precision as each member of the team operates their respective control panels. Their collective efforts ensure smooth operations within this bustling hub of activity. The intricate machinery and sophisticated equipment serve as testaments to technological advancements during this period. Preserved within Historic England's archive, this print not only offers a glimpse into the inner workings of a significant industrial site but also pays homage to the skilled individuals who played pivotal roles behind-the-scenes.
