The Millbank Estate, consisting of twelve blocks of flats, holds immense historical significance as one of the remarkable estates constructed by the London County Council in the early 20th century. Among these blocks stands Ruskin House, which suffered substantial destruction due to bomb attacks. Despite facing adversity and devastation, this photograph symbolizes resilience and determination as skilled workmen embark on rebuilding efforts at this iconic site. Their unwavering commitment to restoring Ruskin House is evident through their meticulous craftsmanship. Today, these historic blocks still stand tall and proud in 2020, bearing witness to decades of change and progress within their walls. Recognized for their architectural importance, they were granted listed status in 1970. Preserved by Historic England's Ministry of Works collection, this print serves as a poignant reminder not only of wartime struggles but also highlights human perseverance and unity amidst challenging times.
