Copthall Stadium, Hendon, Barnet, Greater London. A competitor collapsed on the ground after finishing a race held during the annual Laing Sports Day at Copthall Stadium.
In 1966, the annual Laing employees Sports Day was held on 25th June at Copthall Stadium in Hendon. It was the first time the event had been held there, having previously taken place the Laing Sports Ground at Elstree. A range of events included athletics and a football competition, and competitors travelled from the firms regional offices and sites, including from Scotland and Carlisle. There was also a funfair, marching band, and sports competitions for children. The sports events were followed by a barbecue and social evening

The image shows a competitor collapsed on the ground after finishing a race, symbolizing the immense physical exertion and dedication required to participate in such an event. In 1966, this iconic sports day took place on June 25th, marking its first time being held at Copthall Stadium. Previously hosted at the Laing Sports Ground in Elstree, this change of venue brought together competitors from various regional offices and sites across the country, including Scotland and Carlisle.
