Laing Sports Ground, Rowley Lane, Elstree, Barnet, Greater London. People competing in the swinging dummy stage of the Its a Knockout style competition at the 1986 Family Day at Laings Sports Ground.
Over 2500 people attended the Family Day and raised over £ 700 for that years designated charity The British Heart Foundation. Attractions included; guest appearances by the cast of the television programme Grange Hill, a bouncy castle, donkey rides, Punch and Judy shows, Pierre the Clown, childrens races, blindfold stunt driving and golf and six-a-side football tournaments. Eight teams entered the Its a knockout competition and it was won by a team named The Floppies from the Information Services Department. This photograph was used in the August 1986 edition of Team Spirit, the Laing company newsletter reporting on the event

This print captures the exhilarating swinging dummy stage of the It's a Knockout style competition at the 1986 Family Day held at Laing Sports Ground in Elstree, Barnet, Greater London. The event drew an impressive crowd of over 2500 people who gathered to support and raise funds for that year's designated charity, The British Heart Foundation. The atmosphere was electric as participants competed fiercely on this challenging obstacle course. Laughter filled the air as teams battled it out to conquer the swinging dummies with skill and determination. This particular snapshot showcases a moment of pure excitement and adrenaline as competitors swung from one platform to another, defying gravity with every leap. Family Day offered an array of attractions that catered to all ages and interests. From guest appearances by beloved Grange Hill cast members to traditional entertainment like Punch and Judy shows, there was something for everyone. Children delighted in bouncy castle adventures while others enjoyed donkey rides or engaged in thrilling blindfold stunt driving experiences. The Its a Knockout competition proved to be a highlight of the day, with eight teams vying for victory. Ultimately, it was The Floppies from the Information Services Department who emerged triumphant, showcasing their teamwork and competitive spirit.
