Great aerial view photograph of Galpharm Stadium in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. This iconic football ground has been the home of Huddersfield Town Football Club since 1995, and in this image, we see it in all its glory during the 1997-98 season. At the time, the stadium was known as Alfred McAlpine Stadium, named after the construction company that sponsored the team during that period. The Terriers had a significant season during 1997-98, as they managed to stabilize in Division One under the management of Peter Jackson. The team's hard work and determination paid off, as they were able to avoid relegation and secure their place in the top tier of English football for another year. This photograph, taken in 1998 by Aerofilms, captures the stadium's unique layout and design, with its distinctive four-sided bowl shape that allows for excellent views from all seats. The lush green pitch is visible in the center, surrounded by the terraces and seating areas. The stands are filled with a sea of blue and white, the colors of Huddersfield Town, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. The aerial perspective offers a unique and interesting view of the stadium, allowing us to appreciate its size and layout in its entirety. It's a snapshot in time, capturing the Terriers' progress and the excitement of football culture in Huddersfield during the late 1990s. This photograph is part of the extensive Aerofilms Collection held by Historic England, a testament to the rich history of aerial photography and its ability to capture the ever-changing landscape of our world.
