EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the iconic Oval Cricket Ground in Kennington, Lambeth, Greater London. The focal point of the image is the impressive OCS Stand, which stands tall and proud as a testament to modern architecture. Built between 2002 and 2005 as part of the Vauxhall End redevelopment project, this single stand replaced several older stands including Surridge, Fender, Jardine, and Peter May. From the pavilion to the south-east, we get a stunning view of this magnificent grandstand. Its sleek design seamlessly blends with its surroundings while exuding an air of sophistication. As visitors gather on the pitch below during a sunny summer day, it's evident that cricket enthusiasts are enjoying their time at this historic venue. The vibrant colors of green grass and blue sky create a picturesque backdrop for this sporting spectacle. The teal accents on the stand add a touch of elegance to its overall aesthetic appeal. This photograph by Simon Inglis perfectly encapsulates both tradition and progress within sports architecture. It serves as a reminder that even in our ever-changing world, cherished landmarks like The Oval Cricket Ground continue to evolve while preserving their rich heritage.
