EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the Palm Court Pavilion in Beach House Park, Worthing, West Sussex. The pavilion, built in 1925, stands as a testament to the rich history of this seaside town. From its vantage point in the north-west corner of the park, the pavilion exudes an air of elegance and charm. Over the years, Beach House Park has played host to numerous events and activities. Notably, it served as the venue for the English Bowling Association's championships from 1974 onwards. In recognition of this prestigious role, new head offices were constructed within the park in 1987. In recent times, however, a transformation took place within these hallowed walls. The pavilion underwent a remarkable conversion into a restaurant known as Palm Court Pavilion (not affiliated with any particular company). This reinvention breathed new life into this architectural gem while preserving its historical significance. Simon Inglis expertly captured this momentous change through his lens. His photograph encapsulates both nostalgia for bygone eras and excitement for what lies ahead. It serves as a reminder that even cherished landmarks can evolve and adapt to meet contemporary needs without sacrificing their inherent beauty. As we gaze upon this image print today, we are reminded not only of Worthing's past but also its vibrant present – where tradition meets innovation amidst stunning coastal scenery.
