Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Pavilion, Talbot Road, Old Trafford, Trafford, Greater Manchester. A stained glass window in the Long Room of the pavilion at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, depicting cricketers Albert Neilson Hornby, Dick Barlow and Richard Pilling of the Lancashire County Cricket Club.
The stained glass window was completed in 1887. It was designed by Dick Barlow (1851-1919), batsman and slow bowler for England and Lancashire, who is shown on the right of the window. On the left is Albert Neilson Hornby (1847-1925), who played cricket for Lancashire from 1867 until 1899. Behind is the Lancashire and England wicket keeper Richard Pilling (1855-1891). The original separate pavilions of the Old Trafford ground are shown in the background. In the late 20th century the stained glass window was located in a house in Southport and was later returned to the pavilion at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a stunning stained glass window in the Long Room of the pavilion at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Completed in 1887, this exquisite piece of art depicts three legendary cricketers from Lancashire County Cricket Club - Albert Neilson Hornby, Dick Barlow, and Richard Pilling. Designed by Dick Barlow himself, who was not only a talented batsman and slow bowler for England and Lancashire but also featured on the right side of the window. On the left stands Albert Neilson Hornby, an esteemed cricket player for Lancashire from 1867 to 1899. Completing this trio is Richard Pilling, known as both a wicket keeper for Lancashire and England. The background of this magnificent artwork reveals the original separate pavilions that once graced Old Trafford ground. Interestingly, during its history, this remarkable stained glass window found itself residing in a house in Southport before being returned to its rightful place within the pavilion at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. A true testament to sporting heritage and history, this Victorian masterpiece captures not only the essence of cricket but also pays homage to these exceptional athletes who have made their mark on the sport. With intricate glazing techniques showcased throughout every detail of this window's design, it serves as a reminder of how sports can inspire beauty beyond just physical prowess.
