Peel Hall Manchester. An exterior view of Peel Hall, a farmhouse built in 1810 on the site of the former Peel Hall and demolished in 1975
Peel Hall was originally constructed by Sir John de Ardene during the mid 14th century, and demolished in 1809. It was replaced in 1810 by a farmhouse which was demolished in 1975. The former hall and farmhouse were situated in the centre of a moated site accessed by a bridge in the east and a western arm. EDITORS COMMENTS

This print showcases Peel Hall Manchester, a historical landmark that has undergone significant changes over the centuries. The image captures an exterior view of Peel Hall, a farmhouse built in 1810 on the site where the original hall once stood. The original Peel Hall was constructed by Sir John de Ardene during the mid-14th century but unfortunately met its demise in 1809. The photograph beautifully portrays the architectural elements of this Georgian farmhouse, with its charming facade and traditional features. It is evident that Peel Hall held great significance within its community as it was situated at the heart of a moated site, accessible through bridges from both east and west directions. However, despite its rich history and cultural importance, this iconic structure faced destruction when it was demolished in 1975. This loss serves as a reminder of how even cherished landmarks can succumb to changing times and societal needs. George Bernard Wood's skillful photography allows us to appreciate Peel Hall's grandeur while also acknowledging its ultimate fate. As we admire this image, let us reflect upon our responsibility to preserve our heritage for future generations so they may learn from and cherish these remarkable pieces of history.
