1940s Farm Georgian

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us back in time to the picturesque village of Bunny, nestled within the Rushcliffe district of Nottinghamshire. The focal point of this image is Home Farm, a charming Georgian estate that once stood proudly on Church Street. Sadly, the farm and its adjoining cottages have since been demolished, leaving behind only memories and remnants frozen in time. The carriage entrance takes center stage in this composition, drawing our attention with its grandeur and elegance. Its intricate design speaks volumes about the craftsmanship of yesteryears. But it is the gable wall that truly steals our gaze - bearing witness to history with a carved date etched into stone: 1739. This simple yet powerful detail reminds us of the enduring legacy left by those who came before us. Today, where Home Farm once stood tall now lies Bunny Village Green - an open space that has become a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. It serves as a reminder that while buildings may come and go, communities endure through generations. Maurice Willmore Barley's skillful capture allows us to glimpse into a bygone era when life was simpler yet filled with character and charm. It invites contemplation on how places evolve over time but still retain their essence deep within their foundations. This photograph stands as both an homage to history and an invitation to cherish our heritage for future generations to come.
