Stereograph, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew

This stereograph of the interior of one of the T-Range glasshouses shoes a sign requesting visitors to keep to the right and to refrain from touching the plants. Stereographs were extremely popular from the 1850s until the early 20th century and were used to illustrate key visitor attractions. this image depicting left and right eye images of the same scene would have been viewed through a stereoscope and appear to the viewer to be a single three dimensional image.
