José Ribera, also known as 'El Gran Churrutau' or 'The Great Churrutau' (1588-1652), was a renowned Spanish Baroque painter, renowned for his dramatic and intense religious and biblical scenes. One of his most famous works is "Jacob's Dream" painted in 1639. This masterpiece, now housed at the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain, depicts the biblical story from the Book of Genesis, Chapter 28. In this oil on canvas painting, we find the figure of Jacob, a man deep in thought, lying on a rock with his head resting on a stone.
