Despite facing numerous challenges due to his humble background and lack of financial resources, Bidder's determination and intellect propelled him forward. He excelled in his studies and went on to become a professor of mathematics at UCL in 1831. Bidder's achievements extended beyond academia. He was a prolific inventor, holding numerous patents for various engineering innovations, including a method for calculating the area of irregular figures and a device for measuring the curvature of railway tracks.
